Mosaic table D120 Ankabut Brown

A diamond border is typical of a Moroccan mosaic table . In addition to the decorative function, it also has a symbolic function: as stylized eyes (witch eyes), square diamonds are supposed to protect people from any kind of harm. The mosaic setters place a wide variety of patterns and ornaments into this frame. However, one thing is always the same: the glazed mosaic pieces are previously carved from the handcrafted Zellige tiles with a sharp-edged hammer. Each table top is purely handcrafted and therefore absolutely unique.

On the Ankabut Brown dining table, the joints between the individual mosaic pieces are clearly visible. This is definitely intentional, because the craftsmen had the artfully woven web of a spider (Ankabut) in mind when designing it. Alternatively, the design is reminiscent of fireworks or a flower bed that flower lovers love. For the colors, the mosaicist chose subtle shades of blue and ocher.
